In 1969, John T. Logan Sr. founded John Logan Drywall in Lexington, Kentucky, starting with three employees focused on painting and cleaning. By the early 1970s, he pivoted to drywall installation, defining the company’s core specialty. Breaking major barriers, John Sr. became the first African American to work with Ball Homes, forging a decades-long partnership built on trust and exceptional craftsmanship. His children, Debora Lawson and John Logan Jr., later joined and expanded the business, carrying on his legacy after his passing in 2003.

 

A Rich Multi-Generational Heritage

Over 50 years later, JLD Inc. remains a proud, minority-owned family enterprise. John Sr.’s son, John Logan Jr., serves as President, successfully expanding the business into major commercial construction. Today, a third generation—John III, Brandon, and Cameron—manages daily operations, scaling the company from small residential jobs to multi-million-dollar commercial developments.
